living fashion - 'models in motion'

One of Sam Dobrow's signature styles in fashion photography is to photograph the model, not in a stagnant pose, but in an animated, 'living' pose. Sam examines the how each garment moves with the model to determine ways that the outfit can be best presented, through still photography, in a way that speaks to an active lifestyle.

Sam looks for ways that the outfit catches the air and balloons or clings as the model jumps in the air, spins, and walks. He is known for giving models a rigorous workout as he perfects the shot. Sometimes the shot is perfected by the shear repetition as the model begins to meld with the clothes into the fashion concept.
